This should be the class you take after you have your story worked out but before you put pen to paper. I promise you will stumble across every single one of the situations presented here and without best case practices and the why behind them and when you can cheat it then you are guessing and winging it and your writing will feel uneven and you can be working against yourself without knowing it.

I had just finished another class that emphasized choosing the right word, always, Max's class made that emphasis even clearer: choose the right words to create the visuals in a reader's' mind that create a MOVIE. I certainly have more to say about that, but apparently there's a limit to the number of characters here, and I hit it, hard. Let's just say I highly recommend this class.

About Max Adams
MAX ADAMS is an author and award winning screenwriter. She has written for Columbia Pictures, Sony Pictures, Tri-Star Pictures, Hollywood Pictures, Touchstone Pictures, Walt Disney Studios, Universal Pictures — and a couple others to remain unnamed because no one around here wants to get black listed.
Max is a former volunteer AFI Alumni reader and WGAw online mentor, former Nicholl reader and judge, has appeared as a speaker at, among other places, AMPAS, USC, and Film Arts Foundation, is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at University of Utah and a former lecturer & instructor at New York Film Academy, is the author of The Screenwriter’s Survival Guide AND The New Screenwriter’s Survival Guide, is the founder of two international online screenwriting workshops — and TheAFW — and has the dubious distinction of having been dubbed “Red Hot Adams” by Daily Variety for selling three pitches over a holiday weekend — which made her agents cry.

Max has been writing, selling, mentoring, and teaching for two decades. Four or her workshoppers have won Nicholl Fellowships from the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences. Many of her students and workshoppers have gone on to option, sell, publish, and produce work.
As a beginner, I found myself struggling with writing the setting. Too much detail and you're bossing the director around. Too little detail and you're not giving the reader a visual. So, where's the happy medium? This concise & informative course answered my questions, plus ones I never knew I had. More importantly, it transformed my writing from words on a page to a vision meant for the screen.
