@pooks I really enjoyed early seasons of Justified. Acting and characters in the series are remarkable. Kind of lost respect for the lead as the series ran on but early seasons were the bomb.
@seemaxrun There were originally supposed to be 7 seasons but at the end of 6 they felt they'd taken it as far as they could. However I just read that they are going to do a limited run season 7 where Raylan leaves Harlan County and is assigned to the Detroit office. I hope that opens up some solid new story lines and characters.
Has anyone here watched Squid Games? I'm about halfway into it and am enjoying it a lot more than I expected. It's got this near perfect TV premise to me, but I wonder how many seasons it could go on. It seems set up to be fairly finite. A second season has been announced.
@jeffrey That show was huge when it came out, all over social media chatter which is saying something its hard for shows to make a dent in social media political rage these days but it did. I have not seen it though.
I caught Sea Beast on Netflix. It's really fun.
btw, if you haven't seen How to Train Your Dragon on Netflix and are into animation (I am), it's back on Netflix, and really wonderful. It's one of my favorites right up there with Howl's Moving Castle.
@seemaxrun max, I'm just curious, when you say it's hard these days for shows to make a dent in social media political rage, is that due to a unusually high volume of shows being produced or another factor like current events overshadowing a show's influence?

I haven't caught Squid Games but I want to especially with the Emmy nod. I actually thought it was a game show .. oops.
@seemaxrun Good shows can recreate us in the face of current events, but it's difficult to take a break when in feels like vandals are rampaging through our homes. During the turmoil of the 60s, music often brought relief and chances to recharge.
Squid Games and its creator Hwang Dong-hyuk have an interesting back story. It took a long time for that show to become a reality and there's a lot of press on Dong-hyuk and the making of the show. Here's an IndieWire piece: https://www.indiewire.com/2022/05/squid-game-creator-hwang-dong-hyuk-netflix-season-2-1234729450/
Binge watched The Sandman. It is pretty fabulous.
@seemaxrun thanks for recommending this! I heard about it recently but wasn't sure what to think.
@jeffrey The cinematography and special effects are amazing, the acting is great, and it's got a unique structure and story line. I really enjoyed it. It does get pretty dark though, it's not an everyday fairy tale.
