NYC MIDNIGHT MARCH 18
Hey, I'm starting a topic for the upcoming NYC Midnight comp @maegan and @joanphilo and @jodi are talking about doing it (yay!) and if anyone else is in, chime in too so we can cheer you on.
- First Round: March 18
- Second Round: May 26
- Third Round: July 22
Let's get some energy going there. Yay!

Just registered! Fingers crossed I don't get romance or romantic comedy again 😲
That is right on the horizon, isn't it? Good luck everyone!
What genre are you guys hoping to get? I always like, horror, comedy, Sci-fi, and fantasy. I just looked and it starts this weekend. I'm gearing up and ready to write!
@joanphilo Any of those 4 would be fine with me. Romance and romantic comedy are my least favorite to write, read or watch, but I got one of those the past 4 times in a row for NYC Midnight! I'm starting to think those genres are stalking me . . .
Totally, I don't want romance or romantic comedy!
I hope to get comedy or romantic comedy. Drama is ok too.
but horror? Oh the horror!
Must admit I am a little bit anxious for this. Any tips for a first-timer? Do you have a routine?
@chad it’s my first time doing it too. I guess we’ll find out. I intend to let the assignment percolate in my mind and brainstorm a while before writing. Then hopefully write it with enough time to post the short here for feedback, apply changes, and submit.
Good plan, Michelle. I was thinking of doing a quick outline tomorrow and start on the pages Sunday. But I don’t know I’m afraid of my prompts. lol
Don't put too much pressure on yourself and just enjoy the process. You'll be surprised what you can create with a random prompt and a deadline 🤗
Suspense, clear-cutting, a hostage. THANK YOU, WRITING GODS!
What'd everybody else get?
