@chad It is on the right track. I think ex-con is more defining than "responsible young man." I also think being targeted by the police chief is an important factor. Did you save the loglines we did in lab?
Shadow and Light is a drama about a young ex-con unjustly placed on a registered sex offenders list targeted by the police chief and a crusading journalist.
Stay away from "grappling." It's one of those sort of "mentally struggling" internal verbs that don't have much meaning in a logline because those are inactive.
