It occurred to me we don't really have a banter topic in play in the open forums where alumni members and members of the community can just stop in to visit or share general news. So, this is it. Stop in. Visit. Catch up. Yay!
I want to wish everyone here all the very best this Christmas and throughout the coming year. May you be blessed beyond measure! I have truly missed the conversation and comaraderie (and writing). But I think of y'all often with much warmth.
Merry Christmas
Happy holidays everyone!
This is interesting. The FCC reports average internet data usage per household has jumped from 9 GB in 2010 to 344 GB in 2020.
*I am natch looking this stuff up because I am annoyed my isp is claiming I used 325 GB of data this past month and that cannot possibly be right I stream a lot but I'm not a family of four or a gaming addict jeez....
Hey Max and everybody! I tend to not talk much about what I'm doing and just focus on the doing in silence--but since you asked... I'm prepping for a top-of-the-year meeting with my agent, refining what I want to focus on this year. He and my manager are preparing a strategy for sending out a feature I wrote at the end of 2021. (This script is WILDDDDD.) Also doing research for a new series I'm developing and about ready to dive into the pilot.
Hey! Reporting in. The beagle is fine. He's busy editing his autobiography - The Beagle Chronicles. He's not sure how to spell Chronicles. Neither am I. He's been having zoom meetings with his producers, The Triplets of Houndville LLC.
I'm knee-deep in the quicksand of post-production for Sunflower Care. Yikes. I'm learning all about making notes for the editors from Debi Yazbeck. I am so lucky to be the writer - it's easy compared to what the Director has to do. Send good thoughts and prayers to her, please.
Is anyone attending film festivals this year? I'm watching from home - not ready to go in person yet. Nothing else happening here - feel free to instant message or email me. I would love to hear everyone's news. HUGS!
Della
p.s. - some of the ladies of Sunflower Care. #girlpower
@della Very cool to see you. I saved this on Ig and think of you every time I see it. (smile)
(I know, not a Beagle, but the couch!)
Hi Max and everyone! Miss you all so much. It's been a crazy few months.
I suspended my participation in 5150 because I had a landlord scare back in the summer - he was thinking of throwing me and my partner out - we've been here for 12 almost 13 years. It was a scary time bc in those years the rental market went crazy with renters having to bid on apartments. I know. And landlords refusing perfectly good tenants to hold out for more money. We were frantic. And then a friend reminded me that our provincial gov't has a moratorium on evictions until the pandemics over. Plus she suggested we do what a friend of hers did - ask for moving expenses, plus plus and then you'll leave. What a great idea! But we didn't have to bc the landlord never pressed it. We're still here - but now we don't want to stay bc the relationship with the landlord soared - I guess he realized he's stuck with us for a while. So things settled down by September. But then I got busy.
Some of you may not know, but my short film, The Lingering, is getting some action in the award dept, and will be screened at the Worldwide Women's Film Festival held in Phoenix! I know! If you are in the vicinity between February 18th-20th, mine will be showing on February 19th in the afternoon in one of the screening rooms. The festival is jam packed with women filmmakers from all over the world. I won't be there bc it's too far to fly at this time for me. 🙁 Here's the link: https://wwfilmfestival.org/film-selections. I hope you can make it if you're there 🙂
I also organized, gathered, and published volume one of a new anthology series called: Midlife on Fire: Risky Business. Real Stories. Women Writers. It's on Amazon if you want to check it out.
BTW - I'm planning another volume - just about to send out a call for submissions. If you are interested in submitting a story for consideration, lmk and I can send you the form.
I have been following some of your progresses on social media and so happy and excited for all of you and your news. If we're not following each other on SM yet - I'm IG: cklovewrites_la Twitter: cklovewrites - would love to know what you're up to if I don't know already.
I hope to be back soon - after I finish the other stuff I'm doing.
I hope you're all doing really well.
Peace!
~CK
My first time here in many yonks! I'm looking forward to March 9 and [hopefully] finally taking the Logline Lab!
I've returned to my novelist roots for the fast 8 years or so and when I finish the current YA fantasy, I'm diving in to a mystery series. My plan is to use logline skillz to create loglines/book premises for several mysteries. I haven't totally left screenwriting--there are some of those in my head, as well.
And whilst I'm here, I'll share my pic of my girls who are my writing collaborators!
Meet Roxy and Weasel, settling in for work. Rescues ftw.
Trying again.
@pooks Awww, look at the dogs!
It is so great to see you back. Looking forward to seeing you in the lab in March.
Side Note: @pooks is also the editor of the anthology Debris & Detritus my short story The Night I Shot Johnny Valentine appears in.
