RETURNING MEMBERS: AFW & 5150 Alumni Peeps, leave a post here to let me know you made it in okay with only minor scorching during re-entry and landing.
Also, change your password and check out your new spiff forum profile. That will link to your gravatar photo if you have one. You can post a new sassy avatar in account settings and also post a bio and your location.
Welcome back!
REGISTRATION: New Peeps, if you are new around here and would like to register with the forum and are wondering why that doesn't work, well we had a lot of trouble with spammer sign ups and Cris & I just would rather spend our time here talking to people instead of battling Russian spam bots. No worries! If you would like to register with the forum, send us email at contact@theafw.com. Put "register" in the subject line and we will bring you in out of the cold. Yay!
I'm here. The new site looks gorgeous!
@ck-love I am guessing here, but is that trying to change the avatar? The avatar can be an uploaded avatar image (which has to be a pretty small file). If the file you are trying to attach is too large, then it may want you to attach the file by giving it an url address for the photo instead of attaching it within the forum.
That is a guess. I am not sure why else it would be asking for an url.
@seemaxrun I thought of that but my photo is only 96 KB. And I don't have a photo with an 'url'... I've tried a number of things thus far but nothing works. As well, my profile was basically set up w/my photo and the "about me" paragraph already filled in on my profile - I'm assuming it was migrated from the old site. Could there be something in there that the new site doesn't like?
@ck-love Nothing is migrating in this site, it's all from scratch and by hand because there is a lot that's not compatible between the new forum types which seemed like maybe it was going to cause a lot of headaches with a migration. I pulled info and a photo over to complete profiles for workshop members who had not accessed the new site yet when it was time to drag you all over here (smile).
I just changed something out in settings for workshop member accounts and that may make it possible to change out the profile info. I am not 100% positive there, I'm still learning a lot of the controls in here, and there are lots of them so I could be missing something. Give it another try. Also I put up a topic about changing profiles and avatars and such in the open area that might be helpful that is here: https://theafw.com/forum/life/profile-frenzy/
Give it a shot and see if the profile editing feature is working now?
@seemaxrun So - my bad.
When I typed in the address of my website, I didn't have 'https://' or 'www.' That's probably what it was looking for. Thanks for your replies and sorry about the trouble
